May 16, 2013—A Mountain Guide Meal

It’s amazing what you can do with limited resources. As a mountain guide, cooking under extreme and challenging conditions is part of my friend Dave’s job description. Here with a kitchen kit consisting mainly of hand-me-downs and thrift store purchases, Dave crafts an excellent breakfast.

First he rough chops the vegetables: red and yellow pepper and onion.

As those sautée, he adds a pound of venison he shot himself on a hunting trip with his father in Virginia, then adds scrambled eggs.

The finished product, as you can see, is delicious!

One happy Vagabond Chef. It may not be made in some gourmet kitchen, but simple food made with love is damn good food!
