The high desert surrounding Boulder, Utah contains a unique beauty born of the interplay between scarcity and abundance. During the rainy season, in late spring, the rocky valleys and buttes fill with flowering cactus and teeming with life. Waterfalls erupt and cascade from expanses thousands of feet high. During the late summer, however, the earth is cracked and dry, the sky clear, the air gritty, and the sun angry.
